As CMS quality programs and reimbursement methodologies continue to evolve, the rehabilitation department must play a more integrated and strategic role in skilled nursing operations. No longer defined solely by therapy minutes or utilization, today’s rehab teams directly influence clinical outcomes, organizational performance, and clinical reimbursement through their assessments, documentation, and collaboration with the interdisciplinary team (IDT).
This session will explore how rehab departments support the CMS Five-Star Rating and multiple quality programs, including the Quality Reporting Program (QRP) and Value-Based Purchasing (VBP), while also contributing to accurate and sustainable clinical reimbursement. Attendees will gain practical insight into how rehab clinicians can extend their impact beyond traditional therapy delivery to support functional outcomes, restorative nursing, wellness and activities programming, fall-prevention initiatives, and coordinated care planning.
Through real-world case studies and ROI examples, this presentation will demonstrate how aligning rehab services with interdisciplinary workflows and organizational priorities translates into measurable clinical and financial returns for organizations.
