Position: MDS Director in the Albany-Capital Region

Excellent New York State benefit package at this 250 bed SNF. 40-hour/week position, competitive salary ($80,000), newly renovated facility. 

Responsible for overseeing comprehensive resident assessments through review of interdisciplinary team assessments, review of resident’s medical history, personal interviews, coordination and completion of MDS. Responsible for MDS accuracy, clinical reimbursement, and interdisciplinary team communication.

Qualifications & Responsibilities

  • Licensed Registered Nurse in the State of New York.
  • Has working knowledge of MDS and PPS process
  • Schedules appropriate Assessment Reference Dates for accurate reimbursement
  • Manages the MDS calendar with assistance from MDS Coordinator
  • Knowledge of Submission Process and Interpretation of Validation Reports
  • RAC-CT certified preferred.
  • Coordinates and completes the MDS with appropriate CAAs and trigger worksheets; determines assessment reference dates.
  • Reviews resident’s medical history.
  • Interviews appropriate unit staff.
  • Reviews resident care plans using information available and resident care plan library during MDS completion window.
  • Daily review of rehab software for unscheduled assessments. 
  • Daily meetings with rehab and/or other IDT members regarding current resident status..
  • Monitors follow-through of resident care plans with Unit Managers, report non-compliance.
  • Audits Resident’s Medical Record for Quality Assurance. for areas with MDS relevance.
  • Ensures correct/timely computer input.

Per Diem MDS Coordinator

MDS 3.0 experience required, 3-5 years; AANAC RAC-CT preferred. Major job duties and responsibilities include: Coordination of MDS process, Identifies data integrity weaknesses in medical records and communicates findings, Complete and transmit all CMS approved item sets (MDS), Complies with facility privacy policies and procedures and protects residents’ individual health information, Issues and delivers Medicare ABN (denial letters) per CMS regulation, Maintains adequate systems to ensure appropriate document (i.e., MD certs, IDT program, insurance authorization), Oversees scheduling of MDS and Care Conferences.

Regional Clinical Reimbursement Consultant

Nurse or Therapist with Long-Term Care experience in multiple facility management. Will be responsible for various consulting engagements that include expertise in the areas of MDS 3.0 (AANAC certified preferred), PPS, CMI, General Billing (Medicare/Medicaid), and Quality Metrics. Candidate will ensure that the services offered meet or exceed federal, state and company standards. Serves as a role model for ethical business practices according to standards. Works with assigned facility staff and management to provide guidance on delivery of quality clinical services within budgetary guidelines. Must be able to travel regularly, position includes travel to West Coast, Midwest and Southwest regions.
